What is a REALTOR®?

REALTOR® is a federally registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics that can be viewed here:  pdf 2019 Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (788 KB) All real estate licensees are not REALTORS®

A requirement through the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR®) that went into effect January 1, 2001 states that ALL REALTORS® MUST take continuing ethics training every two (2) years.

The training was put into place in order to create an awareness and appreciation for the role that Code can and should play in their professional lives; to enhance professionalism and competency; and to encourage REALTORS® to view their Code of Ethics as living, viable guide in their daily dealings with clients.
